About the CELPIP Test
CELPIP is a fully computer-delivered English language test developed by Paragon Testing Enterprises at the University of British Columbia. It is one of the two English tests accepted by IRCC for Canadian immigration purposes.
Reading
~55 minutes
Read emails, ads, and articles. Answer comprehension and vocabulary questions.
Listening
~47 minutes
Listen to conversations and news items. Answer questions about what you heard.
Writing
~53 minutes
Write an email and respond to a survey. Tested on clarity, vocabulary, and structure.
Speaking
~15 minutes
Respond to questions recorded on a computer. Eight speaking tasks in total.
CELPIP scores are reported on a scale of 1–12 and are accepted for Canadian immigration (Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Programs), citizenship applications, and professional licensing in Canada.
